Group A (Preschool to KG)

Competition Activity Detail Document
Al-Quran Memorization and Short Discussion Participants are required to memorize and recite the Surah Al-Hashr (Verse 22-24), with short meanings. Evaluation Guidelines for Memorization:
  • Strength of memorization (such as fluency, continuity, not stumbling etc.)
  • Percentage of memorization of the surah
  • Completing recitation (without taking help from judges in case of getting stuck)
  • Not skipping/changing words or changing harakat signs
  • Not skipping an ayah partly or entirely
Evaluation Guidelines for Recitation:
  • Saying istiazah & basmalah
  • Pronunciation using correct makhraj
  • Using madd correctly
  • Using wajib gunnah (nuun & meem shaddah) properly
  • Using punctuation/waqf appropriately
  • Overall performance (such as melody of recitation etc.)
Art and Craft Participants will present their art/craft work in the competition.
Guidelines for Evaluation criteria:
  • Focusing on Theme
  • Coloring
  • Creativity
  • Neatness
  • Overall Appearence

Ramadan Activity Log Please complete the Activity Log attached for the Month of Ramadan.
Submission Deadline: End of Ramadan (on day of Halaqah at the end of Ramadan).
Al-Quran Memorization and Discussion Participants are required to memorize and recite the Last two verses(285-286) of Surah Al-Baqara, with short discussion/tafseer.
Evaluation Guidelines for Memorization:
  • Strength of memorization (such as fluency, continuity, not stumbling etc.)
  • Percentage of memorization of the surah
  • Completing recitation (without taking help from judges in case of getting stuck)
  • Not skipping/changing words or changing harakat signs
  • Not skipping an ayah partly or entirely

Poster Presentation Guidelines:
Section A: Content of Poster
  • Catchy title reflecting content of poster
  • Context and importance of research demonstrated
  • Clear and concise materials and methods
  • Conclusions to point, corresponding to problem
  • Key terms defined and jargon avoided
  • Grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Appropriate amount of details
Section B: Poster Display
  • Overall appeal (balanced composition, catchy)
  • Contribution of colors to understanding, not distracting
  • Font (size, style, quality)
  • Highlighting of major concepts
  • Short text segments
  • Legible pictures, figures and legends (size, font, contrast)
  • Effective use of space (concise, min 20% empty space)
  • Figures convey results effectively (simple, to point)
Section C: Delivery
  • Uses body language effectively (and naturally) to maintain audience’s interest.
  • Excellent delivery.
  • Conversational, modulates voice well, projects enthusiasm, interest and confidence.
Additional Guidelines:
  • Should involve research at a museum, library, archives (as well as internet).
  • Must be accompanied by written research undertaken by students in developing the project.
  • Resources must be cited.
  • Project presentations are limited to 10 minutes.
  • The maximum display size is Height 1.2 m, length: 1..2 m, Width: 0.8 mL

Powerpoint Presentation Participants are required to present a Powerpoint presentation in the competition.
Presentation guidelines: 7-10 Minutes Maximum Time
Evaluation Criteria Excellent Good Below Aberage/NI
Organization Information is presented in a logical sequence. Difficult to follow because presentation jumps around. No logical sequence of information.
Eye Contact Slides are used effortlessly to enhance speech. Speech could be effectively delivered without them. Perfect eye contact. Looks at slides to keep on track with presentation but maintains eye contact with audience most of the time. Relies heavily on slides or notes. Makes little eye contact with audience, may look primarily at slides.
Content Student demonstrates full knowledge. Student is somewhat comfortable with the information. Student does not have grasp of information.
Quality of Slides Readable, professional, imaginative and/or high quality. Readable and professional. Appropriate level of detail that emphasizes main points. Sloppy and/or unprofessional. Inappropriate level of detail (too wordy or too vague); font size too small for readability.
Mannerism Uses body language effectively (and naturally) to maintain audience’s interest. No distracting mannerism. Decent posture. Demonstrates one or more distracting mannerisms, which may include bad posture, shifting feet, etc.
Voice Quality & Pace Excellent delivery. Conversational, modulates voice well, projects enthusiasm, interest and confidence. Easy to understand, appropriate pace and volume. Delivery is mostly clear and natural. Demonstrates one or more of the following: mumbling, hard to understand English, too soft, too loud, too fast, too slow or “umms”.
